Dallas, Texas-based Pastor Robert Jeffress recently claimed that the U.S. would not survive if it legalizes gay marriage.

During an interview yesterday, Pastor Jeffress responded to a federal judge's ruling that Texas' ban on gay marriage is unconstitutional, noted RawStory.com (video below).

“No nation can survive that condones what God has condemned,” stated Pastor Jeffress.

“If the right to marriage were a constitutional right,” added Pastor Jeffress. “Then siblings could get married to one another, 15-year-olds could marry one another. Our nation has always recognized the right of states to regulate marriage for the common good.”

However, the U.S. Supreme Court overruled the states on marriage when it ruled to allow interracial marriage in 1967 and there have been numerous other court decisions about marriage since 1830.

“As an American, I realize that no nation can survive that condones what God has condemned and God has condemned homosexuality,” stated Pastor Jeffress.

According to RightWingWatch.org, during a press conference yesterday, Pastor Jeffress lashed out at respected theologian Pastor John MacArthur whom he compared to “German pastors that allowed for the Holocaust” (video below).

Pastor MacArthur has criticized the Religious Right for its political involvement.

Pastor Jeffress also warned about allowing “godless, immoral infidels who hate God” to run the country.
