I'm sorry to see Mozilla's Brendan Eich go. But in this era of transparency, he didn't do enough to save his job. In the past two weeks, Eich addressed the issue that has caused so much upheaval at the company: His $1,000 donation in support of Prop. 8, the 2008 anti-gay marriage ballot initiative. But he drew a veil over his private life and beliefs, arguing that they didn't matter to his work or Mozilla. He declined to discuss his beliefs, whether they have changed or whether he struggles with the gay marriage issues. Big mistake.
