Principal Allegedly Bans Chick-fil-A On Campus Due To Gay Marriage Politics

Chick-fil-A has been banned from being sold at Ventura County High School in California.
The ban does not stem from health concerns about the popular fast food chain’s offerings, it is allegedly a political statement being made against Chick-fil-A’s anti-gay-marriage politics.
“With their political stance on gay rights and because the students of Ventura High School and their parents would be at the event, I didn’t want them on campus,” Principal Val Wyatt told CBS Los Angeles.
The Ventura County High School’s football booster club had planned to sell Chick-fil-A sandwiches at back-to-school night before Principal Wyatt barred them from doing so.
Ventura Unified School District Superintendent Trudy Tuttle Arriaga is supportive of Principal Wyatt’s decision.
“We value inclusivity and diversity on our campus and all of our events and activities are going to adhere to our mission,” Superintendent Arriaga said.
Local Chick-fil-A franchise owner Robert Shaffer offered to give the booster club 200 meals for the back-to-school event where $1,600 was expected to be raised for the football team, reports Fox News.
“That would have gone toward the football program, everything from uniforms to food for the boys,” booster club president Dan Swim said. “We don’t charge money for the boys to play football.”
The Ventura Chick-fil-A location has already donated $21,000 to Ventura schools.
While it is being reported that the ban is due to Chick-fil-A’s anti-gay-marriage political stance, Principal Wyatt allegedly said the main reason for the ban was due to not wanting an “outside organization to sell or advertise during the event.”
“I work really hard to keep Ventura High School from being a marketplace for all kinds of vendors to come to the campus and reap profit,” Principal Wyatt said.
Parent Michelle Cisneros was angered by Principal’s Wyatt’s decision and complained to school officials.
“Everybody is embraced,” Cisneros said. “And Chick-fil-A should have been allowed to be here.”
Student Graham Wallace agrees with the Principal’s decision.
“There are gay kids that go to our school, and for them it might be kind of weird,” Wallace said.
Donations from Chick-fil-A have not been banned. When school is not in session the booster club will sell tickets for meals, right off campus.
