Chicago-based deals website Groupon on Friday threw its support behind marriage equality legislation in Illinois.
In a two-minute video posted to YouTube, a number of Groupon employees explained why they back same-sex marriage.
“It’s time, Illinois," the video pleads.
Though the Illinois Senate earlier this year approved a bill that would legalize same-sex marriage in the state and Democratic Gov. Pat Quinn is a staunch marriage equality advocate, the legislation stalled when the state House failed to vote on the matter during the legislature's spring session.
Meanwhile, marriage equality advocates are also pursuing the matter in the courts. A Cook County judge announced earlier this month she will decide on Sept. 27 whether to dismiss a lawsuit backed by Lambda Legal and the American Civil Liberties Union of Illinois challenging the state's gay marriage ban.
