One of America’s seemingly impregnable fortresses against same-sex marriage — Utah — has fallen, at least temporarily. A U.S. District Judge ruled Friday that a constitutional amendment restricting marriage to a man and a woman, enacted by Beehive State voters in 2004, violates the right of gay and lesbian couples to due process and equal protection under the 14th Amendment to the U.S. Constitution.
